Welcome to Eastview's Garden
Our goals is for kids have fun in the dirt and learn a little something about where food really comes from!
Here’s what we grew in 2013:
Scarlet Runner Beans (aka “Velcro Beans”)
Peas
Mesclun Greens
Spinach
Arugula
Cucumbers
Beets
Zucchini
Carrots
Radishes
Parsnips
Kale
Swiss Chard
Red Onions
Garlic
Tomatoes
Basil, Parsley, Thyme, Sage
Here’s what we did with it:
Snacked: How many kids did we see munching on raw peas, beans and even parsley!
Brought families out to water and enjoy some of the harvest over the summer – THANK YOU ALL!
Satisfied some curiosity: lots of people just wanted to see what was inside, under the dirt or behind that leaf.
We ate garlic scapes sautéed in butter, and parsnip chips baked with a little olive oil and salt. YUM!
